Your Sole TT8 Treadmill Buying Guide
Summary of What The Experts Say

Experts point out that the Sole TT8 treadmill is the only treadmill in the Sole lineup that has a warranty for light commercial use. In other words, experts feel that if Sole is confident enough to sell this treadmill for use in light commercial settings, it proves Sole is that confident in this treadmill. The twenty two inch wide belt is the most distinguishing feature of the treadmill that experts have noted. It's also said to be the most affordable treadmill with a 22" wide belt on the market today. Experts generally agree that this is one of the best running treadmills under $3000 today backed up with a 5 year parts and 2 years labor warranty that is standard amongst almost all Sole treadmills.

What You Should Do

If you've read our other reviews on Sole treadmills, you would have discovered that they push out many decent products receiving accolades from experts and users alike. To top off this very impressive Sole treadmill lineup then, we arrive at the Sole TT8 which is not only of the highest quality but also at the highest price unfortunately. It is natural for high quality and high price to go hand in hand but is the expensive Sole TT8 overpriced? Let's take a look.

Sole S77 vs Sole TT8

In terms of quality, the S77 is tied for second with the F85. The only model within Sole’s lineup that can top the S77/F85 would be the TT8 at $400 more. For the extra $400, you get a wider belt (22" vs 20"), larger rollers (3" vs 2.75") and better reliability (according to Treadmill Doctor's numerical reliability ratings.) If you just want the short answer to our thoughts on the Sole TT8, we think it's not worth it and you should spend the money on the Sole S77 (or the Sole F85 if you need the folding feature.) If you want our reasoning behind this, read on.

The 22" wide belt is highly uncommon amongst residential treadmills. When one expert said that you basically can't find any treadmill with this wide of a belt in this price range, it's very true. In other words, if you want the least expensive treadmill on the market today with a 22" wide belt, you can't go wrong with the TT8. But you have to ask yourself, do you really need the extra 22"? The answer is most likely no.

Most commercial units don't have a belt width greater than 20". You have to think that if the belt width was such a huge issue, you wouldn't see 95% of the treadmill market (rough estimate) sport a 20" or less treadmill belt width. Another way to put it is that the extra two inches in the 22" belt is a luxury item: nice to have but absolutely not necessary. Having taken care of the belt width feature which seems to be the main selling point of this treadmill (the TT in TT8 means Twenty Two), this only leaves us with the reliability and roller upgrades.

The TT8 is rated slightly higher in reliability than the Sole S77/Sole F85. One reason for this is because of the larger rollers that the TT8 is built with - larger rollers result in less heat generated and less heat generated generally means fewer breakdowns. A better treadmill is a better treadmill but is the Sole TT8 so much better that it warrants the extra $400? Hard to say for sure but we've concluded "no" for the following reason:

If the experts got their info right and the Sole F85/Sole S77 is the model they used at a Hilton hotel, do I really need to upgrade to the TT8 for my home?

Verdict: The best of Sole's lineup is also the most expensive. Unless you really want to splurge and get the extras the Sole TT8 offers, you should consider a lesser model such as the S77 instead.
