Your Smooth 7.1 HR Pro Treadmill Buying Guide
Summary of What The Experts Say
Experts are amazed at the Smooth 7.1 HR Pro's ability to fold despite its solid construction. Experts note that this treadmill is quite similar to the Smooth 6.25 but the added power fold function is impressive. Experts also mention that the motor runs at a low RPM (a good thing!) to attain its 2.75 CHP which is upgraded from 2.5 CHP found in this treadmill's previous version, the Smooth 7.1 HR treadmill (older version is without the “Pro” label.) For shorter runners, the deck length may be fine but for taller runners, the belt length leaves something to be desired. Warranty provided on this treadmill is also above average. Consumer Reports gave the Smooth 7.1HR Pro an overall rating of 73 which is tied for 7th amongst the 12 folding treadmills it tested.
Summary of What The Users Say
There were many instances of users complaining about Smooth's customer service as soon as technical difficulties occurred. Problems include being non responsive, service technicians not being available in their area, not helpful and just generally, not resolving the customer's problems to the customer's satisfaction. In regards to the actual details of the treadmill, some complaints include taller users finding the handles, console to be useless because it’s inconvenient for their height. There was also one particular case where the customer believed the belt was not the advertised length of 54 inches but 51 and a half. On the positive side, users enjoy the heart rate wireless monitor, how quietly the treadmill runs and how stable the treadmill felt. Some users have also reported the treadmill still working fine after one and a half year of use. (Note: user reviews are based on an external epinions page which contains reviews for the Smooth 7.1, Smooth 7.1HR and Smooth 7.1HR Pro. Although they are different machines, they are essentially upgrades from one another so what users have said about older models would still be useful.)
