Good overall warranty with 60-day money-back guarantee |
For a $900 elliptical, a 3-year warranty on parts is above average since many of its competitors in the sub-$1000 price range only offer 1 to 2 years. This 3-year parts warranty comes on top of a lifetime frame and brakes warranty, and 2 years on labor. Smooth also provides a 60-day money back guarantee. We commonly see trial periods of 30 days so 60 days is something else. |
|
16 programs |
Compared to just 7 to 11 built-in workouts found in many sub-$1000 ellipticals, you get more workout choices with the CE 3.0DS's 16 programs. More programs give you variety in reaching your fitness goals. |
|
Includes Wireless heart rate monitor strap |
Wireless chest straps are said to give you a more accurate feedback in monitoring your heart rate. You don't normally get this in fitness machines that cost less than $1500. This is intriguing since it's valued for just around $50 or so. We're just happy that this model comes with this add-on. |
|
Also functions as a stepper |
Though not clearly mentioned on its description, we read user reviews about the CE 3.0DS functioning as a stepper too. With that said, it's like you're buying 2 fitness machines for the price of one. |
|
Comes with Body Fat Fitness test |
With this model, you'll know if you're on the right track with its Body Fat Fitness test. You can take note of your fitness results then find out how you're progressing in the coming days or weeks. This will give you motivation in reaching your goals. |

Machine measures just 50" in length |
When an elliptical measures not more than 52", we give it some bonus point for its compact design. This is the case with the CE 3.0DS measuring just 50" in length and saving a few inches of floor space. |

Light machine at 140lbs. |
With this elliptical tipping in for just 140lbs, we doubt if it can really support a 300-lb maximum user weight capacity. We'd only recommend this model if you weigh not more than 240 pounds for safety reasons. Besides, if you weigh close to 300 lbs., you might as well consider buying a more expensive elliptical machine. |
|
No incline feature and reverse stride motion |
Since you're buying an elliptical that's worth less than $1000, you don't get any inclines and reverse stride feature with the CE 3.0DS. It would have allowed you to add intensity to your workouts and train your glutes and quads. |
|
Comes with basic foot pedals and hand grips only |
When you come to think of it, when you're on this elliptical, your feet never leave the pedals and most of the time, you're holding on to the handlebars. Although acceptable for this elliptical's price, wouldn't it be nice if these components come with enhancements like cushioning? |
