Very affordable price |
For just $345.50, you can have a starter elliptical machine with the Schwinn A40. Although this machine is very affordable, just keep in mind that it also has its disadvantages. For this case, it's the absence of a decent warranty. |
|
17.5" max stride |
With the Schwinn A40's stride length, it's just half-inch short of what's commonly found in many average ellipticals. This means you're almost at par with many medium residential and higher-end ellipticals when we talk of stride lengths, but without the expensive price tags. |
|
Comes with a 2-speed fan |
Another feature we're happy to see is the 2-speed fan built into this machine's console. This would keep you cool during your workouts or when you're about to end your session and cool down. You might want to know that many ellipticals, even those selling for more than $1500 doesn’t come with this convenient feature. |

3-year frame warranty, 6 months on parts, 3 months wear parts, No labor warranty |
One downside with buying budget ellipticals is that you don't get a decent warranty. With the Schwinn A40's case, you only get 3 years on frame, 6 months on parts, without any free service warranty. This is way below average as we're hoping to see at least 5 years on parts and brakes, and 6 months on parts. Many budget ellipticals also have a 90-day labor warranty. With this said, you might want to spare a few hundred dollars more for a better machine or might as well make use of Amazon's 30-day money back guarantee should you feel this elliptical is not for you in the long run. |

Very light elliptical at 93lbs only |
If you're weighing close to 275 lbs., (this model's claimed maximum user weight capacity) we won't suggest pushing this machine to its limit since it's too light tipping in only at 93 lbs. This means your safety and this machine's durability may be compromised since you'll be around 3 times heavier than the Schwinn A40. We also suggest that if you're weighing this much, you might want to consider getting a more durable elliptical belonging to the next price levels selling below $1000. |
|
No enhancements on pedals |
Even with budget elliptical machines, we're expecting its foot pedals to at least come with some form of enhancements so you'll have a more comfortable workout experience. It can be any ergonomic designs like cushioning or be oversized, or any other types of enhancements and not just basic pedals. |
