iFit workout card technology |
The Proform 790E features the iFit workout card technology that gives you 8-week interactive programs which can help you lose weight and improve your performance. Even though it's the earlier version of iFit Live, you'll still be motivated by guided instructions from Jillian Michaels. Just know that these workout cards are sold separately. |
|
24 programs |
The 790E's 24 built in programs allow you to select the right work out so that you can meet your fitness goals. Other brands in the same price range only offer as much as 11 program options. This elliptical can surely provide the variety and challenge that you need to have a longer and more productive workout. |
|
25 degree powered incline |
This elliptical offers a 25 degree powered incline. This feature can help you burn calories more by increasing the slope of your workout automatically via the console controls. This also helps you focus on certain muscle groups in your lower body. The powered incline is commonly found in higher priced ellipticals so you're definitely getting a good deal for the $749 price tag in this machine. |
|
Traction control and oversized pedals / soft grips |
The type of pedals in your elliptical determines the level of comfort that you have during workouts. Large pedals can help users to stay comfortable even during longer exercise sessions. The 790E is fitted with traction control and oversized pedals which provide maximum benefit to the user. In addition, this elliptical comes with a cushioned handlebar for additional comfort. |
|
Has fans and MP3 player support |
Additional features like a cooling fan and MP3 Support provide convenience and entertainment to the user. These 2 features, rarely offered for $750-ellipticals, are welcome additions and can surely help you pass the time while you are trying to achieve your fitness goals. |

Unknown unit weight |
Two important considerations in purchasing an elliptical is the unit weight of the machine and the maximum user weight capacity. These two figures will help you determine the stability or durability of the elliptical and how this will affect the safety and the comfort of the user. It follows that the heavier the elliptical, the sturdier it is. At the same time, we don't want you to outweigh the machine since this will pose safety problems during workouts. As expected from Proform, unit weight is not provided. What they did state is that the machine can accommodate a user weight of up to 325lbs . This gives us reason to doubt their claim since we don't know how much the machine actually weighs. |

No brakes warranty |
Even though the 790E comes with a Silent Magnetic Resistance braking system, lacking a warranty on this component counts among its weaknesses. Other manufacturers give a warranty on brakes up to 10 years or even longer. Because of this, the 790E got low marks in our score cards. |
