Adjustable stride |
If you have multiple users in your home and some are taller than the others, they would of course be comfortable with an elliptical with a longer stride length. This is where the 1050E's adjustable stride would work best. You can choose between 19" to 21" depending on your stature or simply to work on different muscle groups. |
40% powered incline |
We're happy to see the 1050E come with a 40% powered incline feature despite its $799 price tag. We've reviewed many ellipticals that are more expensive than this machine yet they don't offer this feature. Inclines add some degree of difficulty to your workouts but harder workouts yield better results. |
iFit Workout Card tech |
This elliptical comes with an iFit Workout Card module. Though this is the earlier version of iFit Live, it's still very useful in providing you with an 8-week fitness program. Just know that the 1050 E only comes with the iFit module, not with the workout cards that are sold separately. |
24 programs |
For its $799 price, you get a good deal when it comes to workout programs. 24 programs are considered above-average since many sub-$1000 ellipticals offer just around 7 to 11 programs. This gives you more workout options to choose from. |
Oversized and cushioned foot pedals |
When you come to think of it, for the whole duration you're on this elliptical, your feet are on the pedals. With the 1050E,s, you get a more comfortable workout experience since its pedals are cushioned and oversized so you can have several foot positions. |
Audio player support |
For an elliptical machine priced for just $799, having this feature gives the 1050E bonus marks in our score cards. You won't find many ellipticals having an MP3 player support allowing you to listen to your favorite music while doing your workouts. Especially if you're a music lover, this feature would help to avoid boredom. |
Handlebar controls |
This feature allows you to control the elliptical's setting via the handlebars. Although this is a welcome addition to the 1050E's bells and whistles, it's not really a necessity since the console is very near or just next these handlebars. |

No brakes warranty |
We noticed that the 1050E hasn't mentioned anything if its braking system is magnet-based resistance. If it's this type of brakes, it's not prone to wearing out since there's no physical contact between the brakes and flywheel. But if not, the 1-year parts coverage might be too short since other manufacturers provide 10 years for braking system. |
Unknown unit weight |
Just like Nordictrack, it's expected from Proform its non-disclosure of its ellipticals' unit weight. This makes us unable to verify this model's claim that it can support users weighing up to 325lbs. |
