27" maximum stride length, adjustable to 0" and functions as a stepper too |
The AMT 100i is among the few ellipticals we’ve reviewed that functions both as an elliptical machine and stepper since its stride lengths are adjustable. IF you have multiple users in your homes, this adjustable feature would allow users of different stature to find a particular stride length comfortable for them. This would also help you train different muscle groups depending on how long you want your strides to be. 27" is longer than the usual 18" to 23" found in most ellipticals. If you want this machine to function as a stepper, adjust the stride length to 0". |

Reverse stride |
The AMT 100i has a reverse stride feature not commonly found in many ellipticals. Pedaling in reverse lets you focus on your glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps. |

10 parts warranty for residential use / LC warranty |
Since the Precor AMT 100i is a commercial machine, you can be sure it's made to accommodate multiple users and designed to be used for longer hours. It also comes with a Light Commercial Warranty of 2 years if you’ll use it for light commercial facilities like clubhouse or hotel gyms. If you’ll be using this machine in your home, you get a parts warranty of 10 years warranty which is longer than what many other manufacturers provide. It’s just good to know that if anything unlikely happens like any parts need replacement, you're covered by a good warranty. |

Heavy elliptical weighing 445lbs. |
It's not every day we find an elliptical that weighs more than 400 pounds. Many models we’ve reviewed weigh just around 200lbs. We’re recommending you get a heavy elliptical machine since you’ll be putting your entire weight on it when you’re working out. With the AMT100i weighing 445lbs., there's no problem holding a 350-lb user. We’re used to reviewing ellipticals that weigh less than its prescribed maximum user weight but in this case, you get a machine that weighs almost 100lbs more than its user weight limit. |

Unique design |
This elliptical trainer earned bonus points in our grade cards for its one-of-a-kind look. The AMT100i's unique frame design stands out among the rest of the ellipticals available in the market today since it looks very sturdy and well-polished with its casing. |

|
Very expensive machine |
Worth $6188, the AMT100i is priced as a commercial machine but doesn't offer the bells and whistles you'd normally find in less expensive ellipticals. If you intend to use it for light commercial settings, it may be fine but for home only, you might want to consider other models that aren't as expensive as this machine. |
|
4 programs only |
Having 4 built-in programs for ellipticals is a thing of the past. With the technological leap we're seeing nowadays, coming up with more electronic programs will surely not cost that much. Less expensive ellipticals can offer more than 20 programs and are among their selling points. |
|
Many features missing |
This expensive piece of machine lacks the bells and whistles you'd normally find in high-end ellipticals. It doesn't have any incline features, doesn't support your MP3 players because it doesn't have any built-in sound system or speakers, and, its console doesn't have cooling fans. Although an elliptical machine would function just the same without these features, it's just disappointing not to have these especially considering the over $6000 price tag. |
|
1 year labor warranty only |
We find a 1-year labor warranty acceptable if a certain elliptical is worth less than $1500. For models that are worth more than that, it should be longer. Especially with $6188 price tag of the AMT100i, it’s not reasonable to only have 1 year warranty on labor. This short service contract is very disappointing since we’ve seen less expensive machines offer 2 years. |
|
Doesn't have adjustable or cushioned pedals |
Even though the AMT100i's foot pedal motion is ergonomically designed featuring a contralateral arm movement for natural motion, its pedals itself are basic in design. We're expecting it to have adjustable, cushioned, oversized, and other features that can give the users a more comfortable workout. Remember that for the whole time you're on this machine, the feet don’t leave these pedals. |
|
Basic hand grips only and doesn’t have a wireless heart rate monitor |
Especially when you consider this elliptical's $6188 price, it's disappointing it doesn't have any enhancements on its hand grips. You also wouldn’t find any included wireless chest strap to monitor your heart rate with more accuracy. Cushioned or molded hand grips are very common in high-end ellipticals while wireless chest straps are expected for those selling at $2000 and up. |
