Ironman 320 T Treadmill

What's This?
Your Ironman 320t Treadmill Buying Guide
Summary of What The Experts Say
One expert said the running area is generous for the price (the lesser 150T and 220T also features the same sized running area) but feels the max speed and incline could go up a bit more. This expert also noted the poor customer support from the company behind this product (Keys Fitness). Lastly, he claims the Ironman 320T is in fact the Ironman Triad treadmill with a different label.
Treadmill Doctor gave the Ironman 320T the same below average rating in quality that it gave for the 150T and 220T which is a point of concern if you're going to gave the machine a serious beating. They recommended the Ironman 150T once again if you're in the market for an Ironman treadmill (they also recommended the 150t when they reviewed the Ironman 220t).
Finally, Consumer Reports also reviewed the Ironman 320t. Although this treadmill was not awarded a best buy, it did received an above average overall score of 73 and a "very good" rating when it came to construction.
Summary of What The Users Say
Users from Amazon and Overstock chimed in their thoughts on this treadmill. The Ironman 320t was reviewed very similarly to its lesser brothers, the 150t and the 220t. There was mention of the same squeaky sound problem, another case of the motor dying and more blunders from Keys Fitness' customer support. Although many users were generally very happy with their purchase, these reocurring problems across the 150t, 220t and the 320t should really serve as potential red flags to buyers.
What You Should Do
If you're deciding between the Ironman 150T,220T and the 320T and all three are sold at the same price, the 320T is the best choice of the three judging from a specs perspective since it features the highest powered motor and it comes with a wireless heart strap. But what happens when they're not all the same price? Again, we're going to use the same method we used when we looked at the 220T to determine how much the upgrades are worth.

As previously mentioned, the 320T comes with a wireless heart strap and a 0.25HP motor upgrade. From our 220T page, we approximated that a quarter horse power will run you an extra $30. The price of a heart rate monitor varies from low double digits to a few hundred dollars. We'll go with a lower end value of $45 since it only displays your heart rate with no other options and also for calculations purposes. (Generally, wireless heart rate control monitor upgrades cost about $100 but we think you're overpaying if you only need the monitor function and not the control function.)
Upgrades then cost $30+$45=$75 more .
Thus, our "buy ratings" for the Ironman 320T are just what we gave the Ironman 220T plus the $75 upgrades.
Verdict: At the original retail price around $1500, we believe the Ironman 220T is very unimpressive. But since the mdoel has been around for a while, you can usually find it at a price that is quite a bit lower than its original price. The "T" series treadmills from Ironman (150T,220T,320T) all suffer from the same problems of possible motor malfunctioning and squeaky decks. Although you may not necessarily encounter these problems, the fact that more than one user reported it is surely not reassuring. With Key Fitness' tech support being of questionable reliability, you would be best to consider these models only at bargain basement prices. If your mind is set on either of these "T" models, your best bet in terms of quality is in the 320T as its motor is the highest rated, best warranted and it comes with a wireless heart rate monitor. Joggers and walkers only.
