What's This?
Your Ironman 150t Treadmill Buying Guide
Summary of What The Experts Say
Experts are mainly concerned with how the unit is going to hold up. As the machine only comes with a 2.0 HP motor, they're afraid that it might be a little underpowered to serve the 20*56 running surface. Experts say other brands that you can look into include Epic, Healthrider, Sole and Smooth. The fans are also a unique feature not commonly found. Overall, not a bad choice (but not the best either) for a sub $1000 machine.
Summary of What The Users Say
Amazon users note a few common problems. One problem is that the machine squeaks when you walk on it. More specifically, this problem seems to appear mainly near the front of the belt, close to the console. Several users complained that the heart rate monitor that came with it did not work. Several users suggested that it needs to be installed properly so rather than a malfunctioning issue, we're guessing it's just an installation issue. One user states that their machine was still up and running after 2 years of regular use (actual speed used and distance walked unknown). Another user said they've experienced a problem with the incline motor breaking down after three weeks and the tech support people weren't able to fix it after a few months.
What You Should Do
For a treadmill selling for under $1000, we usually do not recommend you use it for any other purpose than for regular jogging or walking. In the case of the Ironman 150t, it's no exception.

As the experts have noted, the motor is 2.0 HP. This is not going to be sufficient for a runner. In fact, even for a jogger it's pushing it. If the motor is upgraded to a 2.5 HP rating, this will not only better accommodate joggers, it will also take care of the "running area too big for motor" issue.
Besides the motor issue, our main concern is the quality of the machine. As previous purchasers have noted, there's a squeaking sound when you step near the front of the belt. There's that incline motor breaking down incident. With the warranty at only 1 year parts and 1 year labor, we don't think the company is too confident behind the durability of this product. We also don't think you should take a chance with this treadmill unless the price goes down substantially.
Verdict: This is a good choice for a walker and an acceptable one for the jogger. If you decide to use this machine for jogging purposes, the length of the belt at 56" is more than sufficient. With the weak warranty at only 1 year parts and being generally average in all areas, we feel there is much room for improvement given the current options in the market. The Ironman 220t and 320t are very similar treadmills so you should take a look at what we have to say there as well.
