Your Epic 1000 MX Treadmill Buying Guide
Summary of What The Experts Say

The top model from the Epic brand of treadmills receives above average from experts in terms of construction and warranty. Experts have noted that you should also take a look at the Epic 800 MX which is a slightly downgraded version of the Epic 1000 MX. Experts are not so impressed with the price of the 1000MX (and the 800MX as well) citing that better deals can be had at this price from competitors such as Sole Fitness.

What You Should Do

Products from ICON Health and Fitness, the parent company behind the Epic brand of treadmills have reviewed poorly from experts. For the past 5 to 10 years, experts believed the phrase "quality ICON products" does not exist and is in fact, an oxymoron. The wind seems to be shifting on this issue in recent years as several ICON brands have won best buys from experts in the lowest price range. So how does the Epic 1000 MX treadmill fare in this upper middle price range? [Click To See Rest of Review]

Just so so. Although there doesn't seem to be anything inherently wrong about the machine, in comparison to other brands in this price range, the EPIC 1000 MX treadmill just doesn't quite measure up as well. When you’re considering a treadmill that’s just under $2000, there are so many alternatives out there that buying something from ICON just seems downright foolish. Models from brands such as Pacemaster, Evo, Smooth or Sole are much more compelling alternatives.

Verdict: When you're willing to spend close to $2000 before tax on a treadmill, go with a company that hasn't been so hit and miss in the past. Though ICON Health and Fitness’s Epic brand seem to be improving in quality, it’s still too early to risk $2000. We would feel much more comfortable recommending something in this price range a few years down the road when they’ve worked out their quality issues entirely. For now, go with another model in this price range that we have rated 4.0/5.0 or higher.

After reading opinions from experts and users, we have objectively analyzed the Epic 1000 MX Treadmill and assigned it a meta score as follows:

If the total price is $1425, you are getting a Great Bargain (4.5/5.0)
If the total price is $1550, you are getting a Good Bargain (4.0/5.0)
If the total price is $1675, you are getting a Small Bargain (3.5/5.0)
If the total price is $1800, it is No Bargain (3.0/5.0)
If the total price is $1925, it is Somewhat Overpriced (2.5/5.0)
If the total price is $2050, it is Greatly Overpriced (2.0/5.0)
If the total price is $2175, it is Severely Overpriced (1.5/5.0)

The current lowest price is $1999.00 which is Greatly Overpriced.
