Summary of What The Experts Say
Experts agree that for the price you're paying, you're getting a pretty good deal in the Health Trainer HT502T. Although it won't be setting records any time soon in terms of quality, experts generally think this product is priced and built well enough to serve a big part of the lower end consumer market. For something priced in this area, experts also suggest looking at products by the ICON line of brand that mainly dominates the lower end of the market.
Summary of What The Users Say
Users have mixed experiences with this one. One user ordered one which was dead on arrival. Another user had theirs broken 3 times in 2 months. Two users that mainly use the treadmill for walking experienced no problems and a fifth user reported it working fine after 5 months of consistent use.
What You Should Do
Health Trainer treadmills priced at this level are not the most stable and reliable machines although the HT502T might be sufficient if you mainly do walking and a bit of jogging. If your budget is around the $600 to $800 area, you should also take a look at the HT503T and Health Trainer Classic Treadmill. The HT503T is pretty much the same model while the Classic treadmill is slightly more expensive but a notch up overall.
When you're buying a treadmill in the sub $800 area, don't expect to do any serious running on it. With the short 51 inch belt on this one, you'd probably have immense difficulty anyways.
If your budget is below $800, the two companies that you’re most likely to buy from are Keys Fitness (Health Trainer’s parent company) and Icon Health and Fitness. As our site’s ratings change as prices change, we can’t list any specific models from either companies for fear of it being outdated by the time you read this. We thus invite you to take a look at our current list of best buys.
Verdict: This treadmill is for Walkers and joggers only. The HT503T and Classic are possible alternatives within the Health Trainer brand. You should also take a look at our current list of best buys if you can’t find something that suits you within Health Trainer.
