Name Games - Landice
If you've spent anytime looking at the treadmills sold by Landice, one thing that you'll immediately notice is how complicated their naming convention is. Simply put, Landice only sells 3 treadmills. That's right, three treadmills with different consoles and different warranties.

Let's look at a typical Landice treadmill listing that you find on the web:

Landice L7 Executive Trainer Home Treadmill

Let’s dissect each part of the name.

"Landice L7": This is one of the three models that Landice offers with the others being the Landice L8 and Landice L9. You will also occasionally see a Landice L770 or L870 being sold. They’re just another name for the L7 and L8 respectively.

"Executive trainer": For all Landice treadmills, what you're going to find is they offer one of four types of "trainers". In this case, it's called an "Executive" trainer. A "trainer" in Landice terminology is synonymous with console - the thing where you set the speed, incline, program, etc. So, the above listing basically means you're getting a Landice L7 treadmill that has an "Executive" console.

The other consoles that are available from Landice include the CARDIO, PRO SPORTS and SPORTS. With the EXECUTIVE, this makes a total of four consoles for any of the three treadmills that Landice offers. Each console includes different functions but basically...

The EXECUTIVE is better than the CARDIO.
The CARDIO is better than the PRO SPORTS.
The PRO SPORTS is better than the SPORTS.

I should also note that a Landice L7 with a SPORTS console exists but is not common.

"Home": HOME basically means HOME WARRANTY. Landice is famous for their lifetime warranties for all treadmills bought for residential use. Besides the HOME warranty, you will also see some treadmills sold with a LTD or CLUB warranty. Where the HOME warranty is lifetime for parts, the LTD (light commercial settings) and CLUB (full commercial settings) is only 5 year parts.

When you're buying a Landice, make sure you get the seller to specify the type of warranty that comes with the treadmill. If you're getting the treadmill for home use, get a HOME warranty. But, you have to be really, really careful if you're going to get a HOME warranty as customers have been (to put it bluntly) screwed in the past because they didn't follow the warranty conditions EXACTLY. From the Landice website:

"All home treadmills must be dealer-installed within a 60-mile driving radius of the selling dealer's nearest retail store."

The key points here are:

1. Dealer Installed - The dealer you get it from HAS to install it. If you install it yourself, the warranty is void.
2. Nearest - The place you buy it from has to be the CLOSEST to where you live. If not, the warranty is void.

The above restrictions only apply to the HOME/RESIDENTIAL warranty. If you're planning to order a Landice from the internet, you should perhaps consider ordering it with a CLUB or LTD warranty which is not dealer or location restricted as far as we know. While you may not get the full lifetime parts coverage from a home warranty, you do get the 5 year parts warranty which is still respectable.

So to summarize, there are only three Landice treadmills - the L7(aka L770),L8 (aka L870) and the L9. For each model, you can get one of four consoles - Executive, Cardio, Pro Sports, and Sports. Finally, each treadmill model can either carry a HOME/RESIDENTIAL, LTD (light commercial) or CLUB (full commercial) warranty.
