The Myth of the Free Delivery

The Myth of the Free Delivery
You've done your homework. You know which model you want. You're ready to place your order because...

"If you order now, we'll include FREE shipping!"

Just one minute though before your press that order button. What does FREE shipping include?

In many cases, shipping is curbside only. What this means is that they dump the product in front of your house (not even in front of your door!) and the rest is up to you. If you're only one person, don't expect to get the treadmill inside the house all by yourself. In fact, if you're able to move the treadmill into your house all by yourself, you probably didn't pick a very good treadmill. (The heavier a treadmill, the more sturdy, stable and reliable it is.) One suggestion we came upon when we did our research was to get a cart of some sort, move the treadmill onto the cart and use the cart to move the treadmill into your house.

But what if you can’t get the treadmill inside your house even with a cart? The sensible thing to do is pay a little extra for setup and delivery INSIDE your house. More often than not, for every flight of stairs that the delivery man goes up, the more you have to pay. If you're a little tight on cash, you might want to hire your neighbors to do a little lifting. They might even do it for free so you don't have to pay that extra $100 for inside delivery.

So remember, the next time you're offered free delivery, better find out what exactly is included. Free shipping may not be the free lunch that you had envisioned.
