Treadmill Best Buys

Treadmills411.com wants you to get the best treadmill deal possible.

We do not subscribe to the belief that a treadmill is worth buying solely on quality, we believe it has to be priced right as well. Our meta score system was developed based on that belief.

After we've determined a treadmill's quality, we take a look at the lowest price it is selling at and compare it with similarly priced competitors. If we think it offers more bang for the buck, we recommend it. The more the treadmill distances itself from its similarly priced competitor, the more highly we recommend it.

Our recommendations are always price sensitive. Despite what others say, we do not recommend you buy a treadmill unless we have scored it at least a score of 4.0. For a complete explanation of our meta score system, please visit our help page.

Model Meta Score Current Lowest Price Quick Summary
4.0
$719.99

The Health Trainer Classic Treadmill is currently the lowest priced treadmill we would recommend. If you're on a tight budget and you're not looking to do some serious running/training, this treadmill is a fine choice. Walkers and joggers only.

This Epic 600 MX treadmill is very similar to the Epic 425 MX that received a best buy from in 2006 from one of the leading treadmill expert authorities in 2006. The 425 MX has since has had a huge price so we no longer think it's worth buying. That is why we recommend the Epic 600 MX which although slightly inferior to the 425 MX in several areas, the price has decreased enough to make it a sufficiently attractive choice.

$880

The Endurance 5K treadmill from Body Solid is a relatively older model that's no longer manufactured. So why do we recommend it? For one, this is pretty much the cheapest treadmill anywhere that comes with a lifetime parts warranty (labor 1 year). Although we don't think it will take a serious runner, for walkers and joggers, we think it is a great deal at less than $900.

Like the Epic 600 MX, the Epic 800 MX treadmill is very similar to the 2006 best buy Epic 425 MX. Also like the 600 MX, the price cut has made a very attractive choice. Unlike the 600 MX, the 800 MX is actually better than the 425 MX in terms of construction. A combination of a low price and (relatively) high quality makes the 800 MX one of the best choices out there today. Recommended for walkers and joggers but an occasional run is acceptable as well.

The Sole F63 treadmill is one of the most popular treadmills under $1000. Experts and users also happen to think it's one of the best. Although there are strong competitors in the Epic and Smooth brand at this price, the general consensus from experts and users on the Sole F63 treadmill has just been overwhelming. Although we think the price could still be a little lower and there were a few technical problems we came upon in our research, this treadmill is still highly recommended.

Smooth Fitness' entry model, the Smooth 5.25 treadmill has had a stellar history. The Smooth 5.25 is actually based on two older models, the Smooth 5.15 and Smooth 5.0 which were both award winning at that time. Unlike the older models however, the Smooth 5.25 has not had nearly as impressive a blessing as its ancestors. Our research shows the Smooth 5.25 as a popular choice among treadmill buyers but not without caveats.

This is second lowest priced treadmill that comes with a lifetime parts warranty besides the Endurance 5K. Like the outdated 5K, we don't recommend you buy this if you're a serious runner but for walkers and joggers, we think it's a pretty good value at under $1000. Get the non folding version of this treadmill where possible.

The Health Trainer HT95T is we believe the only choice from the entire brand worth buying at above $1000. It would seem that Health Trainer treadmills are slowing phasing out of the market in 2007 so you might be able to get it a prices that are lower than normal. Treadmill is backed one of the larger treadmill companies out there today (Keys Fitness) so even if they phase out this brand in favor of another, you should not have a problem.

Although we don't think the Bowflex Series 7 treadmill is a particularly impressive treadmill, we think it's worth buying. If you're considering a Bowflex at all, you've probably seen one of their infomercials. Although these infomercials would have you believe you can attain a "Bowflex Body" just by buying one of their products, we seriously doubt it. But if you believe splurging slightly on a Bowflex treadmill would get you to adopt a regular fitness routine, we believe it is a worthwhile investment. If you're a serious runner, we suggest you look somewhere else.

At just under $1500, the Sole F80 is just about the most affordable treadmill out there on the market today that can take a regular runner.

$1499

Besides the Sole F80, the Smooth 6.25 treadmill is one of the most popular choices for runners at a price below $1500. Compared to the Sole F80, the Smooth 6.25 is slightly lighter on features but it makes up for it by slightly higher in quality.

The Sole S73 treadmill is basically a slightly modified/non folding version of the Sole F83. Although a pretty decent treadmill by itself, we think you can get a better value by going down a price class and choosing the Sole F80 or going up a price class in choosing the Sole S77 instead.

$1749

The Sole F83 treadmill is basically the folding version of the Sole S73. Although a pretty decent treadmill by itself, we think you can get a better value by going down a price class and choosing the Sole F80 or going up a price class and choosing the Sole S77 instead.

4.5
$1859

Out of the entire Sole lineup, we think the Sole S77 Treadmill is the best choice for runners unless money is not an issue. The Sole S77 treadmill is a step up from the Sole F80 which is more along the lines of a starter runner's treadmill. Please note that the Sole S77 is non folding. If you need the folding functionality, you will have to take a look at the otherwise identical F85 instead.

A popular choice among runners, the Sole F85 is the highest priced from Sole we would recommend. Though not nearly as good of a deal as its non folding counterpart the S77, it is every bit as solid and should make the runner in your house, very happy.

Only if you can find the Smooth 9.25HR treadmill at a price below $2000 do we think this treadmill is a great deal. As its prices can fluctuate from $2000 to $3000 due to its sales, we recommend you wait whenever possible.
